In Bogotá, Nominating Committee of the Qhapaq Ñan as World Heritage is constituted

Delegates from Ecuador, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia and Peru, met in Bogota in the Committee of nomination that will finalize the details of the expedient that will be giving to the Organization of the United Nations for education, Science and Culture  (UNESCO) to nominate the  Qhapaq Ñan, Andean road web to the list of the world wide patrimony.

This meeting is particularly important for the work process that will be carried out. Hoping the best results for the Presidential and Bi-National Cabinet Reunion that will be held in Tulcan on December 11th, hoping to result in the realization of projects of cultural cooperation between Colombia and Ecuador.

The Qhapaq Ñan (main Path in Kichwa) is an important Andean road system of almost 6 kilometers which goes from the south of Colombia until Argentina and Chile, passing through Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia.

The six countries have been working jointly since 2007, making the nomination expedite, uniting methodologies, technical criteria and stages. The process was coordinated by the Worldwide Patrimonial Center and it was carried out through permanent delegations by nations of the UNESCO and their respective Chanceries.

This meeting will allow the formal delivery of the Regional Expedient of the candidature of Qhapaq Ñan in January of 2013, in the origin city of Qhapaq Ñan and of the Tawantinsuyu, the historical Peruvian city of el Cusco, capital of the Inca Empire.

The elaborating process of the Expedient compounds the identification of the sections of the path that must be protected, de description of the cultural and material patrimony   and material related to this and the populations that live around there.

The permanent Ecuadorian representative  upon the UNESCO, Ambassador Lautaro Pozo, presided the Ecuadorian delegation, where also participated the Sub secretariat of Patrimony of the Ministry of Culture, Gabriela Eljuro Jaramillo, Executive Directors of the National Institute of Cultural Patrimony, Inés Pazmiño, Director of Cultural Promotion of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, among others officials from the Chancery, from the Coordinator Ministry of Patrimony  and from the Embassy of Ecuador in Colombia.

Governments from Ecuador and Argentina subscribe 6 Cooperation Agreements

Ecuador and Argentina subscribed on Tuesday, 4 agreements in the scopes of economy, culture, agriculture and defense. 2 more in terms of education were also signed, with the purpose of advancing in the bilateral relationship and achieve the development of both countries, through the recognition of diplomas awarded in various levels of training.

The Ministers from Ecuador and Argentina, Ricardo Patiño y Héctor Timerman, signed in the Casa Rosada, headquarter of the Argentinean Executive, an agreement on the recognition of diplomas and certificates of primary education, basic general education and secondary. As well as another mutual recognition of diplomas, degrees and academic degrees in higher education between the two nations.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Integration, Ricardo Patiño, highlighted the importance of subscribing the agreement of revalidation of titles in both countries so the compatriots’ don´t have any inconvenience in the validation of their academic titles. In that sense, the agreements reflect the work pursued by the Government of Ecuador to boost the professionalization of the Ecuadorian youth.

The signing of the agreements, that included the achievement of jointed actions towards the exchange and economic development, was one of the distinguished topics in the agenda that President Correa carries out, who met with his counterpart Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.

Once finalizing the ceremony, the Argentinean President invited the Ecuadorian head of State and official comity to share lunch, where they shared and reaffirmed the necessity of consolidating the Latin American unit. “It fills us with emotion to confirm how are destinies unite, the history that makes us siblings has a lot of coincidences”, expressed President Correa.

Plus, he pointed out as figure of former Argentinean President and former Secretary of the UNASUR, Néstor Kirchner (1950-2010), continue promoting the Latin-American nations integration “Demonstrating that great men never die if their ideals remain in action and the heart of its peoples.

Ecuador presents Good Living in Genoa

Magazine “Quaderni di Casa America, Ecuador Country of the “Good Living” was presented on November 22nd in the headquarter of the Genoa´s Municipality with the purpose of propelling the country in a commercial, cultural and touristic way.

Ecuador´s Ambassador in Italy presented to the assistants an enlarged vision of the Good Living´s lineaments and highlighted the advances that, within that framework, Ecuador has obtained in the last few years, same which allowed a deep economical and social transformation in the country.

The Embassy of Ecuador in Italy and the General Consulate of Ecuador in Genoa, in collaboration with the Casa América Foundation, organized this event, where Italian authorities also participated, like the City´s Mayor, Dr. Marco Doria, Consular corp and members of the Ecuadorian community.

Ecuador promoted his products in front of 3 million visitors in the Agricultural Fair of Malaysia

The Embassy of Ecuador in Malaysia concluded on Monday its participation in the MAHA 2012 Agricultural Fair, considered the most important one in the entire southeastern Asian sector.

The Fair was held out for 10 days in the Agricultural Exposition Center of Malaysia, in Serdang and had the participation of 12 countries and 3 million visitors. Malaysia´s First Minister, Dato´ Sri Haji Mohammad Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak, inaugurated the fair on Saturday, November 24th.

Ecuador´s pavilion had an enormous welcoming among the large number of visitors, and the most important mass media of the Asian country made an extensive media coverage. The Ecuadorian products awoke the interest of many both for their quality as for their presentation.

The toquilla straw hats of the company “Prymal” were one of the Ecuadorian products most attractive of the fair, of the local press, to be more exact. In the same way, roses from the company “Nevado Roses” were showcased, snacks from “Plantain Republic”, coffee, chocolates, palmettos, dried fruits and handicrafts made of tagua.

The Fair brought visibility to both the country as well as its products among the Malaysian population.

Presidente Rafael Correa recibe premio “Rodolfo Walsh” en La Plata-Argentina

La Facultad de Periodismo y Comunicación Social de la Universidad Nacional de la Plata, la tarde del martes, entregó al Primer Mandatario, Rafael Correa el premio “Rodolfo Walsh”,  al considerarlo como uno de los principales líderes latinoamericanos y por su lucha a favor de la Comunicación Social.

El Consejo Directivo de la Facultad de Periodismo y Comunicación Social de la Universidad Nacional de la Plata, con éste reconocimiento al Presidente Rafael Correa destaca su vocación política demostrada en su propuesta de Gobierno, fundamentada en aspectos como la salud pública, la economía solidaria, la justicia social, la defensa de la autodeterminación de los pueblos y la integración latinoamericana.

Por su parte, el Presidente Correa considera que es un honor recibir el Premio “Rodolfo Walsh”,  “eso significa que alguien está escuchando y atendiendo a la lucha de los gobiernos progresistas” afirmó.

Este premio se creó en honor al escritor y periodista argentino Rodolfo Walsh, por su compromiso con la verdad, el testimonio ético, los valores y la militancia profundamente social que rigieron su vida.

En esta categoría, se ha otorgado el premio en el 2008 al Presidente de Bolivia, Evo Morales y en el 2010 al Presidente de Venezuela, Hugo Chávez.

Minister Patiño dialogues with journalists and with the Ecuadorian community that reside in Mexico

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Integration, Ricardo Patiño, interviewed with many journalist from several media during his official visit to Mexico. He also held a meeting with the Ecuadorian community who live in the Aztec country.

Journalist from The Journey, The Reform, Associated Press, Newsweek in Spanish, and Reuters, interviewed Minister Patiño, who, upon the inquiries of the press, clarified that in Ecuador exists complete freedom of expression.

In the setting of theses interviews in the Mexican capital, Minister Patiño reiterated the country´s rejection to the arbitral verdict of the International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) that obligates Ecuador to deliver $1,796.6 million plus interest to the US Oil Company OXY, for considering the resolution of the body attached to the World Bank as unjust, illegal, illegitimate and absurd.

Minister Patiño emphasized that the foreign investment in important for the country, under clear norms and respecting the citizens rights.

In addition, he highlighted the progressive politics of Mexico as an important fact in the consolidation of the Latin American integration. In that sense, he mentioned the importance of strengthening the regional blocks with the purpose of allowing the commercial, cultural, social and road development of the Latin American nations.

Later on, minister Patiño shared with the Ecuadorian community in Mexico, who gathered up in the Association of Ecuadorians who reside in Mexico. (ECUARMEX).

During his intervention in front of the fellow citizen’s residents in the Aztec territory, he spoke about the importance that the Ecuadorian immigrants have for the country, and expressed his desire for achieving the soon return of those compatriots.

“We would love for them to return, and we are preparing Ecuador for that, making of it a country with more equity, more organized, with more justice and bigger opportunities”, he assured.

The President of ECUARMEX, Ana Suárez, mentioned that this meeting seeked to strengthen the fraternity bonds of the Ecuadorians residents in Mexico. Likewise she reiterated her availability for working jointly with the Government to safeguard the rights and welfare of the Ecuadorian community who lives or transits Mexico.

Ecuador and Russia: 29 agreements and a favorable commercial balance for both nations

The Embassy of Ecuador in the Russian Federation, concurrent in Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Azerbaijan celebrates five years of successful management, which has allowed Ecuador to count with new strategic partners, new complementary markets  to expand and diversify their exportations, new investment proposals, and with fair agreements on experiences exchange, technology transfer and education.

Up until now, Ecuador and Russia have signed 29 agreements in many scopes, which have allowed securing the bonds of strategic partners.

According to data of the Federal Customs Service of Russia (FTS), exports of Ecuador to the Russian Federation have increased by 69% over the past five years (2008-2012), highlighting the floricultural sector with an input increase in the Russian market of 172% in the last 60 months, along with other products of the Ecuadorian exportable offer: shrimp, pineapple, and bananas, according to facts from the Central Bank of Ecuador (ECB).

The commercial balance between both countries is 441,978 thousands of dollars until September 2012, and Ecuador has become the 3rd Latin-American country to which the Russian Federation imports products with a 18, 52% of participation until 2010.

These advances in commercial matter have been accomplished thanks to the efforts of the Government to strengthen bilateral relationships, for which it is important to recall the first visit of Ecuador´s President, Rafael Correa, in 2009 to the Russian Federation after 67 years of bilateral relationship with the Euro-Asiatic Nation. Such encounter marked a very important milestone in the history of bilateral relations, due to the fact that numerous parallel meetings were held in many scopes of regarding national development.

In this regard, the Ambassador of Ecuador to Russia, Patricio Chavez Zavala, stressed that the results obtained from this visit lay the foundations for a long and prosperous cooperation, and also opens the way for the peoples of Ecuador and Russian to approach.

The historical date concluded with the signing of important instruments such as the denomination of Strategic Partners that the nations subscribed and the first reunions od the Ecuadorian-Russian intergovernmental economic-commercial commission.

Another crucial point was the visit of Ecuador´s Vice president, Lenin Moreno, to Russia, in 2010, where he subscribed training agreements such as: The signed contract with the Institute of circus and varieties of Moscow: so the young Ecuadorians can develop abilities and obtain a professional formation in circus arts; and the agreement with the Humanitarian Social State Institute of Moscow, which granted the country five scholarships for university to Ecuadorian handicapped teenagers.

On his part, in2011, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Integration, Ricardo Patiño, visited Belarus and Azerbaijan Achieving the strengthening of the friendship and cooperation bonds between the two nations.

In Belarus the Minister Patiño met with the Head of State, Alexander Lukashenko with whom addressed issues of international politics and with whom they agreed on the need to promote the multipolar world that Ecuador promotes and supports. They also addressed issues of bilateral cooperation in the economic, political, diplomatic, scientific and cultural aspects.

Later on, he met with his Belarusian counterpart, Serguey Martinov, to address current international topics, the state of the bilateral relationships, and the desire of organizing a Ecuadorian enterprise mission that visits Belarus to establish commercial relations with their counterparts was laid out; as well as the necessity of propelling the creation of projects and mixed business that allow the technological transmission and development of Ecuador.

The contracts signed between Ecuador and Belarus in commercial matter are “A memorandum for the establishing of the Ecuadorian-Belarusian Commerce and Economic Cooperation Commission” and “ A Memorandum of understanding”.

During the visit, Minister Patiño, reiterated Ecuador´s interest for becoming an active participant of the benefits of the Agreement of Association between Belarus, Russia and Kazajstan and their common custom zone.

In Azerbaijan had a meeting with the prime agent of that country, Ilham Aliyev, in which he emphasized the interest of Ecuador to find in Azerbaijan not only a business partner, but also a strategic partner in the different areas of the development of both nations. He also expressed the desire of this country to increase and fortify bilateral trade relations in order to take advantage of the strategic position in the Caspian Sea.

On October of the present year, the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and Political Integration, Marco Albuja and Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Integration, Francisco Rivadeneira, visited Russia. The encounter allowed great achievements with the counterparts, and also, the authorities’ availability was highlighted regarding the bond strengthening with Ecuador in different aspects such as: political dialogue, trade and cooperation.

On that subject, the Ecuadorian diplomat, Patricio Chávez pointed out that for Ecuador, the relationship with Russia has a special interest, since it’s the 3rd destination country of the non-oil domestic exports and the second of the roses.

On the other hand, Ambassador Chávez, participated for the second time in the Worldwide Economic Forum from May 21st to the 24th in Astana, capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan, where the achievements of the Citizen´s Revolution were exposed, and highlighted the great market for business that the country has, the benefits and protection that is offered to foreign investors.

In the last five years, many work meetings with businessmen have been held in 9 cities of Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Vladivostok, Ekaterinburg, Samara, Sochi, Kursk and Belgorod), and commercial presentations in 7 other countries.

Canadá expresa interés por fortalecer inversiones y comercio con Ecuador

El Ministro de Relaciones Exteriores, Comercio e Integración, Ricardo Patiño, se reunió el domingo en México con la Ministra de Estado de Relaciones Exteriores para las Américas y Asuntos Consulares de Canadá, Diane Ablorczy, con el objetivo de fortalecer las relaciones bilaterales.

En este sentido, el Canciller Patiño manifestó que valora mucho la experiencia canadiense en temas como desarrollo, minería, turismo. Destacó también que entre ambos países existen muchos elementos en común y que espera se puedan potenciar en beneficio mutuo, en las distintas facetas que incluye la relación entre Ecuador y Canadá.

El Ministro Patiño aseguró que los tratados de inversión deben beneficiar a ambas partes, pero enfatizó en que estos cuerpos legales deben dar prioridad a las personas y respetar el ambiente. En este sentido, destacó que Ecuador está desarrollando un Convenio de Inversiones para el Desarrollo, que garantizará respeto y equilibrio entre las partes.

Por su parte,  la Ministra Ablorczy consideró que Canadá tiene un gran potencial como socio para Ecuador. Canadá es un país multicultural que nace de la inmigración, con una importante población indígena y que ha logrado considerables niveles de desarrollo, refirió.

Finalmente, el Canciller Patiño extendió una invitación a la Ministra Ablorczy para  que realice una visita oficial al Ecuador en febrero de 2013, para la inauguración del Aeropuerto Internacional de Quito “Mariscal Sucre”, en consideración a la participación de las empresas canadienses en el proyecto de la nueva terminal aérea de la capital ecuatoriana.
